Great news for Western suburbs commuters

I am delighted with Federal Labor's announcement that it will commit up to $500 million out of Auslink 2 and 3 for the $1.5 billion Northern Missing Link Tunnel. The Tunnel will take traffic from the Western Freeway at Toowong roundabout direct to the Inner City Bypass at Bowen Hills. That is really great news for frustrated commuters stuck in morning and evening traffic. The Northern Link Tunnel could reduce congestion on Milton Road and Coronation Drive by about 20 per cent. Importantly, bus travel time from Kenmore to the CBD could be cut by 45 per cent. Motorists will be able to drive from the Centenary Highway to the East-West Arterial at the airport without passing a set of traffic lights. Details of the announcement by Martin Ferguson can be found at http://www.alp.org.au/media/1007/mstran170.php
