Launching my candidacy

.....
Everyone had a fabulous time last night as we launched my candidacy. Arch Bevis (Member of Parliament for Brisbane) gave a great summary of the reasons why we need to replace John Howard with a Labor Government. Plenty of beer and pizza was consumed. Welcome VIP guests included Senator Claire Moore; Ronan Lee, State MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communities, Disability Services, Seniors and Youth; Hon Wendy Edmond, former Minister for Health; and Brisbane City Councillor Felicity Farmer. Photos from the event will be up on the web site in a couple of days.
This was a very positive and encouraging start to campaigning, and we collected many, many volunteer commitments from those present - thanks to everyone who came along!

Meeting Centenary Branch

.....
Centenary Branch met on Monday night, at Mount Ommaney Library, and I took the opportunity to introduce myself to another Branch, meet some new people and catch up with a few old friends.
Once again, there was quite a positive mood about Labor having a candidate in the field so long before the next election, which isn't due until some time between August and November next year.

Labor in Toowong - furious agreement!

....
I went to a meeting of the Toowong Branch yesterday, and they were very pleased to see that we had a candidate in the field.
We mostly talked about the issues that will be important during the campaign - and there was plenty of agreement! This Australian Government has dishonoured and degraded politics in our country to the point where journalists list John Howard's half truths and lies, his duplicity, his wedge politics, his buck passing and total non-accountability, and say these are 'qualities' that make him the supreme political operator of this time. Crazy! It's to help put an end to this kind of immoral stuff that I’m running.

First Campaign Team Meeting

.....
I've had my first meeting with the Campaign Team, and we have mapped out a range of activities between now and Christmas - a Community Forum on Industrial Relations, surveying the electorate's views, launching our web site, an enrolment drive, and heaps more.
It's not a rich campaign, but we're going to be very active, and my diary has become a whole lot busier.

The Campaign Begins!

.....
Hi, my name is Ross Daniels.
Last week I was honoured that the Labor Party endorsed me as their candidate for the seat of Ryan.
I'll be updating this blog with stories from the campaign trail to keep you up to date on what's going on, what the issues are, and let you see what a campaign is like.
We've got a campaign website – you can find out more about the seat of Ryan, me or my campaign at http://www.labor4ryan.com/
